This hostel is almost like staying in a hotel! The floor I stayed on has not one, but two bathrooms and showers! Also, there were sinks separated from the two so that you could brush your teeth without taking up shower/bathroom space. I stayed in a four bed mixed dorm and was surprised to see that we had a computer with a webcam AND a flat screen TV in the room! Oh, and a fan!! (it was like 90 and humid when I was there so it helped). The staff was also SUPER nice and helpful it was like having a concierge when you arrive! There is a complementary breakfast every morning for hostel-stayers at the pub and I think that's pretty amazing. There is also a nice patio open out back during the summer that has a pretty nice feel to it.

One more thing: I walked either to or from literally EVERY major tourist attraction in London from this hostel. Big ben, buckingham palace, piccadilly circus, trafalgar square, london tower, tower bridge....just everywhere. It was also about a block or so away from the BEST farmer's market I've ever been to (Borough Markets)! If you stay here you MUST visit this place when it's in full swing.

So, we stayed at the hostel that is part of this pub and had a great time there. We had drinks there too, and I was delighted to find that they had Kozel on tap. I had that in Prague and was in love. It was the first time I had seen it there. The staff was very friendly. Would have tried the food if we hadnt been out and about for most of the day.

As a hostel, this ranks pretty high for me. For one, these are the most comfortable hostel beds I've been in. There are also curtains fof privacy. They cover most of my most important hostel needs, and there is a computer in every room. Wish we had more time to hang out of a pub. One of my favorite parts of traveling by hostel is meeting people and really there are no better ways to do that than through a connected pub?

Bit of an oddball places this. Standard selection of beers, a few real ales (Pride, Youngs, IPA), which are pricey even for the area (£3.50 for a pint?).

Crowd seems to vary considerably: one night it will be full of suits, the next musicians, then locals. It does have a pool table and jukebox, and a small outside area at the front - which sadly is now where all the smokers hang out and not very pleasant if you don't smoke. In the outside area you also tend to get hassled by the homeless people who hang out near the island café.

The staffing situation is bizarre - went to the bar to get another drink recently only for the barman to ask me to hold on for a few minutes while he finished his game of pool! The other two barmaids were having a cigarette break. I obviously wasn't impressed so headed off somewhere else. Can't say I'd even choose to go there myself, but it's very close to work so my colleagues tend to pop in for a drink sometimes.

Had a great experience at this hostel! (And normally I'm a hotel girl, so this means a lot!)

My sister, best friend & I stayed here aprx 08/02-08/07/2013, they had made previous reservations however I met them last minute and I was lucky enough to snag a room for each night. The staff was extremely helpful & accommodating (especially Charles & Claire) The rooms and bedding were neat, very clean & fully equipped with computers, tvs, coffee, water, etc. We had access to wi-fi the whole time, definitely a luxury we appreciated. Breakfast was served in the morning, great mix of cereals/coffee/juice/toast, etc. Miska (big fluffy german shepherd) lounges around too which was really fun for us because we all love animals!

We were able to walk everywhere from here, definitely a great location. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone!
